Elysian Fields - My Top 10 - Part 1
BMG Music Service and the gorgeous face of Jennifer Charles. That is who I can thank for my discovery of the amazing Elysian Fields back in 1998. I saw the cover for their debut album "Bleed Your Cedar" and I was instantly pulled in and it was sent in my welcome box of 8 CDs along with Pulp and Echobelly and a few others I can't remember. When playing the album, I was immediately drawn in by Jennifer's soulful, sultry voice. It is a thing of great beauty and one of my favorite female voices in music. Another thing of beauty, to see them live, which I have had the pleasure of doing a few times during the rare and far between LA appearances. I will forever be grateful to have seen them with a string quartet years ago at Temple Bar. MAGICAL, just like their music. After the last time I saw them, Rockyboo and I even got to meet them, as they dragged us backstage after their show to throw merch at us.
They've continued making great albums and have a new one on the way in September! My list is very "early" part of their catalog heavy, but that doesn't take away from the greatness they continue to put out today.
6. Bend Your Mind
7. Lady in the Lake
8. Shooting Stars
9. Never Mind That Now
10. When

The Dears - My Top 10 - Part 2
Did I mention I LOVE The Dears!? I DO I DO!!
Now a couple songs here are getting the double treatment. My all-time favorite Dears song has one of the most heart-wrenching videos I've ever seen, but the amazing album-length track is cut short. My #3 fave Dears song is so emotional on their debut album, but the acoustic version just rips me apart too!
1. 22: The Death of All the Romance
2. We Can Have It
3. Heartless Romantic
4. Corduroy Boy
5. Autotomy

The Dears - My Top 10 - Part 1
The Dears have long been a favorite, consistently putting out lovely albums for the past 25 years. My sissyboo Crys had the pleasure of seeing them live back in the late 90's/early 2000's and immediately told me about them, knowing I would fall deeply in love! That love hasn't waned a bit, even though my deepest love is for their first four albums...especially the epic and flawless 2003 masterpiece "No Cities Left". That album shakes me to the core and is on my "Desert Island Discs" list as an essential part of my being! Their live shows are always electric and soul-tingling! And my favorite part, those emotional, deep, soulful vocals of lead singer Murray A. Lightburn. I need a Dears concert, NOW!
6. End of a Hollywood Bedtime Story
7. There Goes My Outfit
8. Saviour
9. Expect the Worst/'Cos She's a Tourist

Kid Moxie & Luxxury - All I Want
Since I've never seen the entire show, Rockyboo and I are binge watching "Queer as Folk" right now. There are some great made-for-TV music tracks that the show produced and this new collaboration by Kid Moxie & Luxxury reminds me of something that would be playing at BABYLON during any episode! Kid Moxie & Luxxury are releasing a new EP called "Love + Unity" in a couple weeks.
This isn't the entire track, but it pretty much sums up the whole song, perfectly edited for TV!!

The Tear Garden - My Top 10 - Part 1
I actually heard The Tear Garden before The Legendary Pink Dots early on during my freshman year of college, thanks to my friend Jessica. "To Be an Angel Blind, the Crippled Soul Divide" was my first foray into their music and there are some super depressive moments on that album that were perfect for my 18 year old mind. As I ventured deeper into their catalog, as well as quickly discovering The Pink Dots, I felt much more kinship and love for the band. They created my favorite 16+ min track ever and is a song I still get lost in to this day. They also have a track on one of my favorite personal playlists, "The Saddest Songs of All Time". There is dark pop, there is synth pop, there is experimental (pop), there is gothic sadness. Emotions abound within Ka-spel's always trippy and amazing lyrics.
6. You and Me and Rainbows
7. Judgement Hour
8. In Search of My Rose
9. Ascension Day
