U2 - Love Is Blindness

Rockyboo's Xmas gift this year was tickets to see U2 at the Sphere! While I'm not their biggest fan, "Achtung Baby" is a great album and this should be an awesome experience! My favorite song of theirs is this beauty!

Flashback 2000: Belle and Sebastian - There's Too Much Love

Belle and Sebastian released their wonderful "Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant" in 2000 and it featured one of the band's best songs in their entire catalog. It was a wonderful joy to hear it featured in one of the best scenes of the FANTASTIC 2014 film "The Way He Looks", which you can see some clips of in the video I'm sharing!

TR/ST - Being Boring

TR/ST released his latest EP "TR/ST" a couple weeks ago. It features a few new songs and this cover (with help from Jake Shears) of one of the best Pet Shop Boys songs ever! Took me a couple listens to enjoy, but now I love it!

The Decline and Fall of Heavenly

On Friday, Heavenly released the next of their re-issues of ALL their albums! Released in 1994, "The Decline and Fall of Heavenly" was Heavenly's shortest album and packed the most punch...thanks to the riot grrrl influences found during their stint in the US.
The album starts with a bang as "Me and My Madness" shows a whole new side to the band (more writers/more instruments/more harmonizing), and it continues for 6 more tracks until finally closing with the softer tale of unexpressed love in "She and Me". There's even a frollicking instrumental thrown in the middle. "Sacramento" is what I like to call their Dick Dale moment.
This album also holds some special memories in my life. I'll always remember one of my sister's early e-mail addresses was "meandmymadness@...com". This was the album I used to introduce her to Heavenly. The wonderfully titled "Sperm Meets Egg, So What?" was featured as the opening track on one of my all-time favorite mix CDs, "An Exploration of the Human Body - From Conception to Death", which I realize I need to un-earth and share here!
Topping off the awesomeoness, they've attached the entire "Atta Girl" EP featuring some of the band's most beloved tracks including "P.U.N.K Girl" & "Hearts and Crosses". The EP is pretty much perfect and further shows the band hitting its stride to the fullest!
These two releases show the band growing in all the right ways and they only get better from there! Later in 2024, we'll see the re-issue of the band's final album "Operation Heavenly". So excited my sister and I will be seeing them AGAIN in June, this time in NY! Life is good!
