In honor of my sissyboo Crysmiss, I present one of her favorite bands on Top 10 mode!!
I remember discovering Belle and Sebastian via a Borders bookstore listening station (just like Cranes!) in college.  They've had plenty of highs through their career thus far (and some lows too but we definitely won't be talking about those!).  One of my favorite concert moments of all time was seeing B&S live with Crys and her getting to go on stage and dance for 2, maybe 3 songs.  The sheer joy & glow on her face is a moment that will stay with me forever.  Here's to you Crys, and the gloriousness of indie pop masters Belle & Sebastian!

The Knife - My Top 10 - Part 1

I discovered The Knife through Myspace.  Their 80's inspired workout photo drew me in.  "Pass This On" was the first song I heard and my love blossomed immediately.  The Knife are such an experience, especially if you've had the chance to see them live.  This Top 10 is VERY heavy towards one album but that album is near perfect.  There is still a lot of fantastic material across all their albums.  It's a bit sad they have "disbanded" but I have a feeling they may just return once more.

H Bird - Violet

One thing this "stay at home" lifestyle has allowed me plenty of time to do is watch terrible movies!  One of the worst I have seen is "The Young Cannibals".  The movie finds a group of friends (one an escapee from a psych facility) who eat human-meat burgers made for them by a crazy man (a previously terrorized cannibal).  Said group is then terrorized by the same demon monster thing that only attacks "cannibals".  There's a lot of screaming and lameness, but near the beginning of the movie is this super-cute little indie pop love gem.
I know very little about H Bird and cannot find much about them, other than an abandoned Facebook.  There is an album "Operation: Fascination" from 2011 which you can still purchase.

Ladytron is one of those instant loves.  They push all my electronic love buttons.  I've loved all their albums and was super happy to see them return with new music last year after a long hiatus.   I've seen them live a bunch of times, including the first ever time in England, where my po' ass spent the night on a bus bench after the show!  It was amazing, they are amazing!

Cranes - My Top 10 - Part 2

I'll never forget the time I was able to meet Alison Shaw after their Amoeba performance.  My only question after a brief spell of fawning over her, "Are you going to play 'Cloudless'?"  She sweetly responded, "It's first", and I beamed!  Someone said afterward that we communicated liked soulmates, and I couldn't agree more.  Even though there's no newer Cranes material on this list, I love it too and I miss them dearly.

Cranes - My Top 10 - Part 1

I was definitely a few years late to the Cranes party but it doesn't matter how late you are as long as you get there!  It was my freshmen year of college and I was home for winter break.  My friends and I went to the Santa Monica Promenade and in the "alternative" section of Borders I proceeded to place the headphones on my ears and hit play on "Loved".  I'd never heard of Cranes but my body immediately began shadow dancing and swaying back and forth wildly.  I purchased "Loved" that day and by the end of that trip had acquired "Wings of Joy" and "Forever".  All classics in my eyes with some of the best gothy pop music around, well maybe not so poppy on "Wings of Joy", but still!  Alison's voice is a love it or hate it and I LOVE!  I wish they were still around, and hope they are secretly concocting a return with new music!
