Advent Calendar - Theoretical Girl
This is my new favourite holiday tradition: Theoretical Girl's Advent Calendar! She releases one new cover song every day in December until Christmas! 2011's first cover is "Wicked Game" and oh it is lovely!

Josie Cotton
"Johnny Are You Queer?"...seriously, that's where I thought it all ended for Josie Cotton. But lo and behold, she is still actively making music to this day!! This is a gem we discovered at bowling tonight via our favourite bowling vee-jay, St. Patrick! It is taken from Josie's 2010 album "Pussycat Babylon". If this track is any indication, I may just be loving this album by the weekend!

Ice Choir
Kurt from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart & The Depreciation Guild has a new band, Ice Choir!!! Chilly synth love! I guess they have an album due next year, but for now we get a near perfect slice of the cake with a 7" single "Two Rings b/w The Ice Choir" co-released via Shelflife & Yesboyicecream Records.
Here is the video for Two Rings:

Dubstar
Well, now I've got the fever, the Dubstar fever! They are reuniting!!
"Fast forward to summer 2011 and a little older, a little bigger and hopefully not too clever…we have been writing and recording together again and have amassed a large amount of new material. We are currently at the mixing stage; it always seems to be the last lap that takes the longest, but I think the results will be worth the wait. We can't wait to get out and play it all live too.
Once the songs are ready we’ll put up some previews for fans because we know you have been waiting a long time for this and really appreciate your patience.
- Sarah Blackwood of Dubstar"
This song will never get old...

Technique
Before the ever amazing CLIENT was formed, there was Technique. How did I just find out about this last year? I don't know, but here is one fantastic pop song by Technique, from their only album "Pop Philosophy":
Of course, the lead singer of Technique, Xan Tyler, is replacing Sarah who officially left CLIENT during the summer (very sad!). But, maybe Dubstar can now reunite! Woooo!!

Lederhosen Lucil
I just discovered Lederhosen Lucil last month whilst riding into work with Agent Sexy Buns. The song "You Suck" made me instantly fall in love with it's very simple Casio beats and lovely lyrics like "I can't believe I did the nasty with your willy" or "'Cause a necrophiliac wouldn't touch your little crusty bone"...heyyyyyy!! How can you not love? She reminds me quite a bit of Stereo Total. Lucil has since dropped the nickname, opting to use her birth name Krista Muir. I will listen to her soon, but I'm loving my Lucil now!
Here's the only video I can find, taken from her "Tales from the Pantry" album, and it's delicious:
While that video is awesome, it doesn't really capture the fun bouncy pop that is the bulk of her music...this not so great quality live video is pretty damn great:
