iamamiwhoami - rascal

Moody beauty from iamamiwhoami...album of the year seems to be inevitable...

Paris

It's been 5 years since we've heard any new music from Paris. That's too long! "Say It" is the lead track from their upcoming EP (due May 30th) entitled "From Paris to Pluto"! And for those of you who don't know, Ooberus-inDIeVA Emmon is a member of Paris which makes them that much more awesome!!

Geoffrey O'Connor - Proud / So Sorry

Here's the latest video from Geoffrey O'Connor's awesome debut album, "Vanity Is Forever", (under his own name)...

Might as well post this too...which is the 2nd video from the same album. I posted the first many moons ago!

Light Asylum

Light Asylum's self-titled debut was just released this past Tuesday. I'm excited to hear it, even though the awesomeness below isn't on it. Anywho...say three Hail Mary's, turn around, pray about it! Woooooooo!!

Hecuba

Ooooh Hecuba! We are going to see them next week! It's free! It's at the Echo! It's the record release show for their new album "Modern" out on Germ! Come on everybody! Woooooooot!!
Love the ending of this video...

The School

Keeping with today's now-theme of super cute girl-fronted indie pop released by Elefant Records, I present The School's newest, "Never Thought I'd See the Day"! The song is featured on the EP of the same name released in March and will also be on their 2nd album "Reading Too Much Into Things Like Everything" which comes out May 14th! Yay! Super cute video alert! Claw machines & bowling...Cudddddles!!!

The Primitives

The Primitives are back in full force! After breaking up in the early 90's, they decided to reunite for some shows in 2010 & released the lovely little "Never Kill a Secret EP" last year. Now, they have a new album out called "Echoes and Rhymes" on Elefant. It is all covers of obscure female-fronted groups from the 60s! Yummmm!!! Here is the 1st video off that album and it's a good one!

Candy

Cola Jet Set are from Spain and they are coming to NYC Popfest later this month! I am so excited!! This is their cover of the great Magnetic Fields song "Candy"! The video features cupcakes, cute girls, & pinball!! wow!!

This song was released on their 7" EP "Listen & Repeat" (2011) by the always lovely Elefant Records. YAY!

TV Off - Religion

Finland in the house, turn the TV Off, thank you very much! I am love loving this new song "Religion" and it's very straight-forward "Slave to the Rhythm"-esque message! Amen Hallelooo!!

Sometime

Now this is what I need my Icelandic music to sound like! Sometime are from Reykjavík, just like pretty much every other band I know from Iceland. Soon, they will be releasing their 2nd album "Music From the Motion Picture Acid Make-Out" and I am quite excited. Their debut "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" was ace stuff! Here's the debut video from the new album. It is called "Mind Repair":

I am also including a couple hits from their first album, so you can dance with me!

Live!! AWESOME!!

Libby Gery - You're Still My Baby (Tigerheart)

Just saw "Sound of My Voice" today and while its ending leaves things a little up in the air, I still really enjoyed it. The closing credits feature Hot Chip's "Thieves in the Night" which is awesome, and inside the movie the following track is featured to beautiful perfection. It's by Libby Gery, whom I can find very little info about, other than that she guest vocals on the last Vampire Weekend album. She has two songs in the movie, and this is one. I can't find the other, but I want them both, I want them now!

The Most Beautiful Voice in Music

That's right...it's Sonya Aurora Madan, formerly of Echobelly fame...now of Calm of Zero. The live performances below make me all goosebumpy and fuzzy warm. I've loved Sonya's voice for so long and every time I hear her sing, she solidifies herself as my all-time favorite! Not to mention, lyrically, she blows my mind!

iamamiwhoami - idle talk

This has to be the sweetest sounding iamamiwhoami track yet! And they've just announced that "kin" (their debut album) will be released on CD/DVD and VINYL!!! That's due on June 11 and I want it all!!! Looks like we only have 3 tracks left to go.

Get lost in the beauty...

inDIeVA Alert! - Soso

It's been too long since I've posted about an inDIeVA...
Soso is a Swedish pop artist. She says she dumped her major label and is giving us her album for FREE!! How nice of her. The album is called "T.T.I.D.S.D.I.E.U.I.C". The first song I've heard from it, "Happy People (Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt)", is pretty lovely and is definitely attaching itself to my heart's ears with each listen. You can download the album HERE at her website, where you can also read her letter to us, giving us some insight into why she's doing what she's doing. Pretty great!

Rosemary - Sleep Alone

Oh boy this is good! Rosemary are friends of Ooberus-fave The Golden Filter. Rosemary's debut EP, "A Persian Tale", has been released via The Golden Filter's own label, Perfectly Isolated. You can download the whole EP for FREE over at Rosemary's webpage! It is very good...I promise!

Enjoy their creepy debut video:

Friday Bridge - Dark Heart

Swedish synth pop darlings Friday Bridge have just released a new single for us, and it's pop-tastic! Can't wait for an album!!!

iamamiwhoami - in due order

These past two weeks went by so fast, and thank goodness!! iamamiwhoami's new song/video has to be my favourite of the new "kin" family! The dancing, the beats, the stop/start @ 0:48! This is fantastic!!!!!!!

iamamiwhoami - play

It's been another 2 weeks which means it's time for another awesome & trippy single/video from iamamiwhoami!!!!

Regina - Soita mulle - The Trilogy

My favorite Finnish band Regina have just aired the final part of a trilogy of videos from their latest album "Soita mulle". The album is gorgeous and lush and full of pop mastery. They chose three of the highlights from the album, concluding with my favourite track. The videos are as beautiful as the music, with a home-made feel, shot in what I'm assuming is a Finnish lake(sea?)side somewhere. It's absolutely beautiful wherever it is, suiting the music perfectly. The latter two have a rather voyeuristic bent.

Pushy Parents

Pushy Parents are Swedish. Pushy Parents includes the prolific Roger Gunnarsson from Nixon, Cloetta Paris, Free Loan Investments, Intellivision, amongst others!
Pushy Parents make divine indie/twee pop music. Pushy Parents are playing NYC Popfest in May. Pushy Parents, love!

You can buy their debut 7" which is jam packed with 4 amazing songs (incl. Secret Secret) over at Elefant Records.

Bachelorette

Just saw the lovely Bachelorette open for the magnificent Magnetic Fields. She was the perfect choice and definitely the best opener they've ever had in the times I've seen them. She's from New Zealand, has three albums to her name and the two videos below are taken from her self-titled 3rd album!

Here's Bachelorette performing her 2009 single "Do the Circuit" live! This is some of the magic we just witnessed! YESSS!

Gimme All Your Blood

Jackie Beat has turned Madonna's pretty mediocre song & very blah video into a Sir Ryan Certified Hit!!

Soma Sema

Soma Sema from Göteborg, Sweden have produced an ACE ACE ACE synthpop single here in "Artificial Heart"!! Dark, minimal synth love!! Please come to the States and play with Soft Metals...or Cosmetics...or BOTH!!

You can be cool like me and buy the 7" single over at Genetic Music...NOW!

Cazwell / Peaches - Unzip Me

Can't believe I'm just seeing this for the first time. Cazwell & Peaches!! This is what you get when you stick two dirty dirty electro musicians: Dancy beats, drag queens, and sexy sexy!! This was released in November last year as a one-off single. They should do more!

iamamiwhoami - good worker

And of course I have to end my barrage of music video awesomeness with the next awesome single from iamamiwhoami...
