Death and Vanilla - Debut Album!!

Do you miss Broadcast?? Cue "Rituals" by Death and Vanilla from their just released self-titled debut, "Death and Vanilla". This is all kinds of psychedelic pop mastery. I love the halfway point when it kicks it into "high gear"! I already ordered my very limited edition CD...did you??

Giana Factory

So I've just discovered Danish group Giana Factory and I am now in love. Why does happen to me so often?? "Rainbow Girl", taken from their debut album "Save the Youth" (2010), is sheer pop glittery loveliness!! Shimmy shimmy glitter pop!

Here's something a little moodier, but just as lovely...

Frida

Frida Hyvönen's got a new album coming out this year too, and based on this first single, I am most excited to hear it. The album is called "To the Soul" and this first single is called "Terribly Dark"...and actually, this video makes her look terribly crazy!! woooooooooooooo, love it!

Sissy Wish - She's a Star

Finally, it looks like Sissy Wish's new album "Happy Monster" is going to be out this year...I hope!! She's now released three singles from said album and the 3rd "She's a Star" has a lovely video attached. (You can also hear another new song "Your Bro", here! It's fun!

To Be With Others

Chinawoman has released a new single/video combo!! Very exciting. The song is dark, lovely and centers around fulfilling one's "extra-marital needs"! Oh my! While she's trying to justify what she's doing throughout the song (and looks pretty happy about it in the beginning), you still hear that lingering regret and see it by the end of the video. Beautiful...

Chairlift - Met Before

Chairlift's excellent sophomore album "Something" is full of pop mastery...here's one of the more rockin' tracks, now with an awesome INTERACTIVE(!!!!) music video!! It's totally like my "Final Destination 3" DVD!! You get to choose where the video goes next! So freakin' cool! I will be playing with this for some time...fun!!

Heartbreaker feat. Lovefoxxx

I don't know who Steve Aoki is but I do quite love this simple pop ditty of his, mainly due to the video and the fact that one of my all-time favourite leading ladies, Lovefoxxx, is the star of the song! Roller-skating + plus people exploding into confetti shreds! Love!!

Ferns

Ferns are a super cute indie/twee pop band from Malaysia. This is their first official music video, all hand-made...showing some very cute little creatures battling back against evil industrialization...with SEED BOMBS!! Cute! Love!

You can buy their 2nd album "Fairweather Friends" here.

NZCA/LINES

Got my new NZCA/LINES self-titled debut in the mail yesterday. Oh boy oh boy is it good!! More smoooooth pop...synth heavy, just like I like it!!

Here, listen!!

more!

Jamie Woon - Night Air

Jamie Woon's debut LP "Mirrorwriting" is smoooooooth electro sexiness. I love letting it lull me to sleep in the night air. I first heard him in London last year during our trip, as he played live on the tele...meow! This video is smoooooth electro sexiness...in the Night Air".

The Golden Filter - Kill Me

Demented demented demented are the best words to describe the motherly love presented in The Golden Filter's new video for "Kill Me" taken off of last year's "Syndromes" soundtrack.

Shonen Knife - Daydream Believer

I never really paid much attention to The Monkees, but this is my favourite cover of one of their songs, EVER!! The crazy bitch at 2:38 in this video really takes it over the top for me. RIP Sir Davy...

iamamiwhoami - drops

I will post these every time. Magical!

Woog Riots

Italo/German band Woog Riots have a new album coming out this year (April). It is called "Post Bomb Chronicles". The first video we see from the album is the dancey electro-gem "Last Beat"...ooooh creepy eyes!

And here's one of their big hits from a few years ago, "People Working With Computers"...LOVE this video!!

Silver Swans - Let It Happen

My current addiction, Silver Swans, have just released the first video from their super super great new album "Forever"...(look Rockyboo, lots of equipment and stuff!!)...enjoy!!

Selebrities - Night Heat

Selebrities have a new single, and it is good. It could have easily fit on the awesome 80s-centric "Drive" soundtrack! It is called "Night Heat" and here is its psychedelic neon video! yum yum...

Single is released in March on 7" via Cascine.

Silver Swans

My new love is Silver Swans from San Francisco! You must hear them now!!! See below to check out their just released and amazing album "Forever"...

Their new album "Forever" is synth-heaven-bliss!!!!

iamamiwhoami - sever

New iamamiwhoami is always a treat. On Valentine's Day, it's extra special! This newest track/video is possibly the most emotionally moving of their output yet. They keep pulling me in close and forcing me to love them even more than before. Further good news is that the next single "drops" is scheduled to drop on Feb. 29!! Now that is news!!!

Brittle Stars - Souvenir

All the youtube comments are right, this is one of the best covers I know and also taken from one of the greatest cover compilations ever: "Pretending to See the Future: A Tribute to OMD" released on Shelflife Records back in 2001. Sadly, Brittle Stars broke-up the same year.
This is dedicated to my sissyboo Crystal.

Charlotte Thorstvedt - Arrhythmia

My favourite Norwegian Margaret Berger does some mighty fine guest vocals on this mighty fine pop song by Norwegian DJ-girl Charlotte Thorstvedt. While I love that she's helping out her friends, I really wish she'd finish that third album already! Now dance!

Amanda Mair - Sense

The very young, very pretty, very AWESOME Amanda Mair has just released the first video from her debut album. I hate her (by hate, I mean love) for being so amazing at such a young age!!

Of all the signs she holds in this video the one that really made me smile is "Who is Kate Bush?"!! HA!!

For Only U

Slow motion kittens rule!! And so does Juvelen's synth pop pleasure single "For Only U"...This song is taken from his "Make U Move" EP from last year. Enjoy!

Andrew in Drag

It's horrible that I have waited this long to post this video here, considering this "other" favourite band of mine NEVER releases videos (I believe this to be only their third EVER!) Well, it's awesome and the song makes me long for this return to synths album even more! The Magnetic Fields...love always,

The new album "Love at the Bottom of the Sea" comes out on Merge (US) and Domino (UK) on March 6th & 5th, respectively!

Phèdre - Ode to the Swinger

Oooh, this album may just be gettin' better and better. Here's another from Phèdre! I must admit, I like this video a whole lot more than the other!! The song itself may not be as immediately enthralling, but its wackiness wins me over in the end!

Phèdre

Let's start the month of Loooove off with a kinky dirty video!
Phèdre is a new Canadian band featuring members of Hooded Fang and Doldrums. The lead dude's voice reminds me a bit of Ethan from Baby Dayliner, I love! I actually think this video is quite nasty but love love love the song, so enjoy...whilst bathing your boobies all up in that honey!

Their debut album (self-titled) is released on Feb 14, via Daps Records.
