Röyksopp - What Else Is There? (True Electric)
While I certainly was not a fan Röyksopp's True Electric show as it was just a DJ-set of their songs, I'm sure I can love these new "live" versions while dancing at home! The band will release "True Electric" on April 11th!

Rainbow Chan - Pomelo Water
Wonderful new single from Rainbow Chan!
About the track: "Historically, on the night before her arranged marriage, the bride-to-be would bathe in pomelo water to wash away her bad luck. She’s expected to shed her past and become a new person - a subservient wife. “Pomelo Water” is my subversion of that narrative, thinking through what it means to face erasure in both historical and contemporary contexts. How can song keep resistance alive? In solidarity, 50% of the single’s bandcamp sales will go towards Palestine Children’s Relief Fund."

Evripidis and his Tragedies - Just a Little Wiser
It's always a happy day when I am able to start my "Best Songs of the Year" playlist. That day is today with the new Evripdis and his Tragedies single!! Synthy, dancey POP! magic with a perfect chorus for my middle-aged self! I love it!
About the track from the man himself:
Just a Little Wiser is a vivid electro pop gem to help dance away any mental crisis you might be having. Amidst an Italo beat, glimmering synths, arpeggiator cascades, vocoder responses and with a bittersweet campy flare, Evripidis sings about embracing the passage of time and that persistent voice in our head, with a sense of humor and a smile on our face. The lyrics encourage us to hold space for the changes that will actually finally release us from our gilded birdcages.
The song was produced by Ian Catt, who has produced artists like Saint Etienne or Trembling Blue Stars, who are amongst Evripidis’ all time favorites.
Evripidis and his tragedies will perform in London this Friday 10/01 at 19.45, at The Winter Sprinter at The Lexington.

Song of the Year - 2001: Echobelly - Ondine
Last New Year's Day, I shared my 2000 Song of the Year, so it seems only fitting that we move on to 2001 this year!
Echobelly's 2001 album "People Are Expensive" is one of those rare perfect albums in my listening history. Towards the end of the album is "Ondine", a beautiful, heart-wrenching ballad. I've spoken about it before on Ooberus back when I did the ABC's of me and you can read that here and it tops my list favorite Echobelly songs. Simply put, I believe this is one of the most beautiful and sad songs ever. Sometimes those two things blend to make perfection.
