Ooberman - SnakeDance

To continue my birthday weekend, I will tell the story of how this very blog Ooberus Oblivious came to receive its awesome name!  I call it:  The Birth of Ooberus Oblivious!!
As all in the know know, Ooberman is the greatest band of all time because they are my favourite band of all time.  Their album "Hey Petrunko" is my all time favourite album; one that lifts me out of this world...one that lifted me from a very sad time in my life...and one that to this day is the true essence of magic for me.
In the middle of the album lies the energetic "SnakeDance", a song that follows its narrator from adolescence through to an older, wiser age...and in it lies one of the most beautiful verses of music, a verse I hold so very true to my heart and one I try to live by daily...

Asha Ali was born in Ethiopia and now resides in Sweden.  This bad ass song is the lead single from her upcoming third album "Loud and Out of Place".  I can't wait!  (Thank you Swedes Are Sweet)

Krachmacher - Flamingo

Norwegian/German band Krachmacher make an blend of pop-rock-noise-chaos that sounds quite beautiful.  I love lead singer Eva's voice, and that probably is the most beautiful piece tying it all together.  "Flamingo" is their new single and I imagine their 2nd album will be soon to follow...

Sleep Thieves

Sleep Thieves are from Ireland and make lovely lovely synth pop!!  They released their 2nd album "You Want the Night" in June!  They are playing at Culture Collide here in LA in October and I hope I get to see them!!

The Lovers Key - Who's the One You Love

I really hope The Postmarks haven't broken up for good (I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!).  In the meantime, Christopher Moll has a new band!  A soulful new band at that!  The Lovers Key formed a couple years ago and released their debut album "Here Today Gone Tomorrow" in April.  Here's their latest video...

We haven't heard new music from Swede popstress Hello Saferide in 6 years!!  This is a lovely, poppy little new single from her upcoming album "The Fox, the Hunter and Hello Saferide"!

Mr Twin Sister - Blush

I don't know why Twin Sister have changed their name to Mr Twin Sister but whatever, this new track off their upcoming album is pretty lovely and lush!!  I'm excited!  "Mr Twin Sister" is due for release at the end of September.

Jessie Ware - Tough Love

New Jessie Ware is good Jessie Ware!!!  This is the title track off her upcoming sophomore album due in October!

The Fauns - 4AM

Banks - Beggin for Thread

Foxes in Fiction - Ontario Gothic

Very cool track here from Foxes in Fiction whose new album "Ontario  Gothic" is coming out at the end of September.  Owen Pallett worked with him on the album and based on this track, it could be super-lovely!

Lucid Dream

Lucid Dream is a new band, a side project for Museum of Bellas Artes.  They are from Sweden and recently  released a superb little 3-song EP called "Nonsense".  It features the 2 tracks below plus opener "Lucid Dream".  All the songs have their own little style and groove and I love that!!  "Lucid Dream" is a nice groovin' little pop song; the simple little synth line in "Muzzle You" gets me every time; and the dreamy pop of "Hitting Heads", bliss!!  As will often be the case now:  thanks to my SisSis over at Swedes Are Sweet!
